Trail Overview

The Scovill Loop Trails consist of the Northern Loop (1.0 mile / Blue), the Southern Loop (0.6 mile / Blue-Red), and the Quarry View High Trail (0.5 mile/ Blue-White). The trails are wooded and generally cover gentle terrain and are great for families with young explorers or for a quiet ramble.

The Southern Loop features an old foundation and mill site, as well as views of the Connecticut River. The Northern Loop wanders past Moellers Pond, overlooks Hubbard Brook, and leads down to a beach on the Connecticut River. The Quarry View High Trail is the steepest trail and offers a rewarding view of the Connecticut River from it’s overlook.

The trails are located within the Hubbard Brook Preserve, which was permanently protected when Eversource Energy granted a 75-acre conservation restriction to CFPA in 2007. The ensuing partnership between Eversource and CFPA promises to preserve the natural, scenic, aesthetic, and special character of the property. The Preserve offers a protected natural habitat for birds, wildlife, plants, and similar ecosystems.

CFPA acknowledges we are on the traditional lands of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, the Mohegans, the Eastern Pequot, Schaghticoke, Golden Hill Paugussett, Nipmuc, and Niantic peoples. We pay our respect to the Indigenous people who are no longer here due to colonization, forced relocation, disease, and warfare. We thank them for stewarding this land throughout generations. We recognize the continued presence of Indigenous people on this territory who have survived attempted genocide, and who still hold ties to the land spiritually and culturally. We shall be good stewards of the land we all call Quinnentucket, Connecticut.
