Event Description
Event Description:
Turtles have lived on earth for millions of years, even pre-dating dinosaurs by tens of millions of years. Freshwater turtles are cornerstone species in ecosystems, dispersing seeds, cycling nutrients , and helping to maintain water quality. But turtles today face many threats: habitat loss, poaching, pollution, climate change, and entanglement in fishing gear. Many species are now endangered or of special concern. Join Master Naturalist Lynn Kochiss for a brief introduction to what is happening to turtles in Connecticut
