Event Description
Join us for our upcoming CWCA monthly meeting in February, and learn the art of woodcarving!
Cottonwood Bark Carving
- We have a selection of Connecticut-sourced cottonwood bark available for carving. While the Connecticut bark is thinner than northern or midwestern varieties, it remains a fantastic medium for artistic expression. This bark is perfect for creating fairy houses, faces, and other nature-inspired carvings. Many times, the bark is left in its natural state to accentuate its beauty or complement the carving itself.
- There is no cost for the bark blanks, as they are mill cut-offs generously donated to the group.
Bellamy Eagle (Multi-Class Project)
- Project Overview: We’re bringing back the popular Bellamy Eagle project, a traditional design that has graced New England buildings for centuries. This carving, often associated with John Bellamy, will be a multi-class project that spans a couple of months. It’s an excellent opportunity to carve a historic piece that captures the spirit of colonial America.
- Cost: The cost of the blank will range from $5 to $10, depending on the final price of the wood.
Come prepared to discuss these projects and get started on some exciting carving! We look forward to seeing you there.
