Event Description
Embrace the winter and join the Connecticut Woodcarver Association for a fun-filled monthly meeting with a variety of creative, hands-on projects! This event is open to all ages and skill levels, from beginners to experienced carvers. Whether you’re looking to make a thoughtful gift or just enjoy a relaxing afternoon of crafting, we’ve got the perfect projects for you.
Featured Projects:
- Wooden Hearts
Get ready for Valentine’s Day with a special wooden heart project! We’ll have heart-shaped blanks available for you to carve and personalize. This is a great opportunity to learn basic carving techniques, and for those looking to get a bit more adventurous, you can add custom sayings or decorative details to make your heart a one-of-a-kind gift for a loved one. (Cost of heart blanks may vary depending on the type of wood chosen.)
- Snowflake Carving
Embrace the winter season with a beautiful snowflake carving project. Start with a simple relief shape carved from Poplar, or get creative by cutting and assembling the pieces to create a 3D snowflake! This project is perfect for both beginners and more experienced carvers looking for a fun, seasonal challenge. (The blanks will be 2 for $1 to cover the cost of the wood.)
- Cost: Heart blanks vary in price depending on wood choice. Snowflake blanks: 2 for $1. If you have your own carving and whittling knives, please bring them.
This is a wonderful opportunity to create a unique, handmade gift or decoration, and a great way to connect with others in the community. All materials will be provided, and we’ll guide you through the process, whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned carver.
Bring your creativity, and leave with something special — we can’t wait to carve with you!
