Policy & Research

Policy & Research

Connecticut Forest & Park Association’s advocacy is guided by in-depth research and a long-term commitment to Connecticut’s natural resources. Here you can explore the reports, white papers, and foundational principles that shape our work on critical issues facing our state’s forests, parks, and trails.

Priorities

Protecting Public Lands

The CT General Assembly has the power to sell, swap, or give away state-owned public land, and CFPA is active every year to ensure public lands are not lost without appropriate public input.

Forest Discovery Trail Loop

Recreational Liability

CFPA has advocated for protecting all landowners against liability if they make their land available for recreational purposes.

Hiking Resources

Economic Benefits of Forests, Parks & Trails

To conserve special resources like forests, parks, and trails, it can be helpful to cite the economic benefits that they provide to all of us. Here are a few examples.

Trees and Power

Special thanks to the Garden Club of New Haven for excellent information on tree and power issues, and finding balance for Connecticut.

Forest & Climate Change

CFPA led two major efforts in 2020 and 2021 to conserve forests for the future as part of the Governor’s Council on Climate Change (GC3). The consensus reports and resources that support their various recommendations follow.
