Description
This 6-mile out-and-back hike on the Pequot Trail begins at the parking area on Norwich Westerly Road and travels south to Thomas Road before returning.
Rated moderate, the route features gradual climbs, old pastures, overgrown woods roads, and occasional views of the Thames River valley. The trail passes through Preston’s Lincoln Park, including sections near recreation fields and Rose Hill, the trail’s high point at 330 feet.
Watch for hawks near wetland ponds, historic sites like Hellgate, and several geocaches along the way. Local history and varied landscapes make this hike especially engaging.
