Donate Stocks and Mutual Funds
Gifting stock is a simple and powerful way to support the Connecticut Forest & Park Association’s work protecting trails, forests, and parks across Connecticut.
Gifting Stock Offers Financial Benefits
- You can easily donate appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds
- Deduct the full fair market value of the stock on the date of transfer
- You pay no capital gains taxes on the appreciated value
If you have any questions about the two-step process for stock donations below, contact Linda Pierce or Joey Listro at (860) 346-8733.
How to Make a Stock Donation
Gifting stock is completed in a simple two-step process.
Step 1: Complete your transfer.
Contact the institution where your stocks are held and let them know you’d like to transfer the shares to the Connecticut Forest & Park Association account at Charles Schwab. You may need the following information:
- DTC # 0164 (code 40 – not always needed)
- Account Number: Please contact Cindy Vitek for the account number.
Should you require it, CFPA’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) / Federal Tax Identification Number (TIN) is 06-0613430.
If you or your broker has any technical questions regarding the transfer, please contact:

Step 2: Let us know a gift is on the way.
Stock donations transferred to our account aren’t accompanied by donor information. We want to be sure we can acknowledge your charitable donation of stock and send you a tax receipt, so please be in touch. There are two easy options to report your stock gift details. You can either:
- Submit this gift information online using our Stock Donation Notification form below
- Email Linda Pierce, Development Director, at lpierce@ctwoodlands.org or Joey Listro, Executive Director, at jlistro@ctwoodlands.org. Or call (860) 346-8733.
