Event Type: Outdoor Recreation

Audience: All are welcome

Organizer: Renee Smith

Event Description

This loop hike will follow the path Tom Wessels describes in his 2021 book “New England’s Roadside Ecology.” We will stop periodically to read from the book and look for clues along the trail, learning how to “read the landscape”. This is a moderate 2.5 mile hike with much variety, including woods, fields, a swamp and a trap rock ridge. Part of the hike includes moderately steep ascents and descents along the ridge, which in places is as narrow as 4’ to 5’, so this hike is not recommended for anyone with a fear of edges/heights.  The total elevation gain is 450′.

Meeting location will be shared after registering.
