DESCRIPTION:About This Hike\nThis 3-mile hike will go around Crescent Lake with an out-and-back to Bradley Mountain.  Part of the hike will be along the Metacomet Trail with beautiful views of the lake from a scenic lookout. This is a moderate hike with some 562’ of ascent and roots and rocks underfoot. No dogs\, please. \nYour hike leader: Renee Smith is a nature enthusiast who hopes to spread the love! Nature Nerd Hikes are an opportunity to explore the woods while employing all our senses\, trigger curiosity\, share and seek knowledge\, and nourish our souls in the great outdoors. WFR certified. Visit her trail blog at www.trailtalk.org. \nWhat to Bring \nSturdy footwear with good traction\, water\, a snack\, and weather-appropriate layers. A charged phone\, hat\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, and trekking poles are also recommended. During fall and spring hunting seasons\, please wear blaze orange. \nWeather & Cancellation Policy \nHikes go on in light rain or cool weather\, so dress for the conditions. We’ll cancel for unsafe conditions like thunderstorms\, heavy rain\, ice\, high winds\, or extreme heat or cold\, and we’ll email registered participants as early as possible. DESCRIPTION:Autumn colors are here\, so let’s take a closer look at the trees that create such amazing color! \nJoin CFPA’s Education Assistant\, Julia Sonen\, for a walk and talk focused on Connecticut’s amazing trees. Starting from the banks of the Farmington River\, we will make our way up the Tunxis Blue Trail and see how the forest composition changes. Both absolute beginners and those with some experience will enjoy this walk. \nPlease be prepared to walk 1+ miles over uneven terrain with some elevation change\, and bring water and any snacks you might need.  Sunscreen\, long sleeves\, good hiking boots\, and a hat are always suggested. \nWell-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome.

Featuring interviews with thru-hiker Greg Gregory\, trail adopter Wayne Desroches\, archaeologist Jay Levy\, hiking enthusiasts Rosie and Jeremiah Shea\, and NET superintendent Kelly Fellner\, this film shares how their love of getting out into nature is deeply connected with love for their family\, their community\, their people\, and themselves.\n\nFollowing the film\, animator Alex will share a behind-the-scenes look into the unique process of using animation to illustrate people’s real-life stories\, and there will be an opportunity for Q&A.\n\nArtist Bio: Alex Salsberg is a Providence\, Rhode Island based animator who loves telling stories through funny\, playful and heartfelt cartoons. He is the co-creator of “Too Beautiful” a visual album with actor/rapper Utkarsh Ambudkar\, and has worked on projects for Billy Ray Cyrus\, MTV\, Nickelodeon\, GBH\, Boston Children’s Hospital\, and the Peabody Essex Museum.
