SUMMARY:VERNAL POOL DENIZENS- Part 2: A Relaxed Ramble
DESCRIPTION:Every spring\, a miracle occurs as life renews at these very special pools in the forest. Master Naturalist Lynn Kochiss will lead an easy-paced walk of about 1 mile\, with a stop to explore the magic of vernal pools at Highlawn Forest and observe some of the hidden denizens that live there. \n            The trails are relatively flat with some inclines.  \nThis free event is part of the Nature’s Tiny Heroes Series sponsored by CFPA in collaboration with the East Hampton Senior Center \n  \n

SUMMARY:Nature Nerds Hike at West Rock Ridge State Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Renee Smith for a 6-mile loop hike that includes a portion of the Regicides Trail and features a trap rock ridge with sweeping views\, a beautiful lake\, and a visit to Judges Cave – a local landmark where Edward Whalley and William Goffe\, two of the “judges” who signed Charles II’s death warrant\, allegedly hid from Royalist bounty hunters in 1661. This is generally a moderate hike.  Portions of the Regicides Trail are moderate to difficult\, with some steep and vertiginous sections and a few scrambles. We’ll go at a moderate pace with frequent stops to enjoy our surroundings. \nRenee Smith is a nature enthusiast who hopes to spread the love! Nature Nerd Hikes are an opportunity to explore the woods while employing all our senses\, trigger curiosity\, share and seek knowledge\, and nourish our souls in the great outdoors. WFR certified.
